Nicky Arpesella Physiotherapists is a group of dedicated, experienced physiotherapists who strive to provide quality physiotherapy services to Milnerton, Sunset Beach and surrounding communities. Our practice has 6 passionate physiotherapists based at two central locations in Milnerton, namely Milnerton Mediclinic and Stodels Lifestyle Centre.

Nicky grew up in Milnerton, went to Milnerton High and qualified at Stellenbosch University in 1995.
After graduation, she started working at Milnerton Medi-Clinic. In 1998 she married Kevin Duncan and went to the UK where she worked in geriatric and amputation units.
After returning to SA she worked again at MMC and established the practice in September 1999.
In 2002 she opened a second practice in Parklands with Isabeau Neethling and Adele Strauss to accommodate our patients after discharge closer to home if necessary.
Nicky’s continuing professional development includes Soft Tissue Mobilisation, Whiplash Injuries, Dry Needling, Headaches, McConnell Strapping, Kinesiotaping, Knee and Shoulder Injuries, Mulligan’s mobilisation, ICU, Paediatric and CPR workshops, Pain Management.
Nicky’s special interests are all things relating to backache, the spine and chronic pain. She also does rehab classes for compromised back patients.
Chanene grew up in Durbanville and Blaauwberg and qualified at Stellenbosch University in 1994.
After university Chanene went abroad to the UK where she worked for 11 years in the National Health Service and travelled the world.
In the UK she worked in specialised units such as Stroke Rehabilitation Units, Oncology, Infectious Diseases, Liver Disease Units, ICUs, and general wards. She did extensive work with respiratory conditions.
Chanene returned to South Africa and started working at Nicky Arpesella Physiotherapists in 2006.
Her continuing professional development scope includes Kinesiotaping, Mulligans Techniques, Dry Needling, Ankle Rehab, Management of Headaches, TMJ conditions, CPR, Medical and Surgical Management of Acute Strokes and Advanced ICU course.
Chanene has special interests in Respiratory conditions, Sinus Treatments, Neurology and Paediatrics as well as post-surgical rehabilitation.
Gino graduated in 2004 at UWC and joined Nicky’s practice in 2007.
He’s a keen sports enthusiast, and enjoys plays club soccer, as well as social sports including trail running and action cricket.
For a number of years he served on the WC Sport physio group initially focussing on events, course co-ordinating and later, 3 years as chairperson. Gino’s own professional development included doing the Sport Physio 1 course in 2007, along with regular involvement with teams and events such as the Cape Argus, Big Walk, Wines2Whales and Two Oceans Marathon.
Career highlights include being part of the physiotherapy team for FINA Swimming World Cup, Boland Rugby U19, the Red Bull Freestyle Soccer World Cup 2010, Bayhill Metropolitan Cup, as well as the Region 5 Games Lesotho 2021, African Games Ghana 2024 and Beach Volleyball Cup Morocco 2024 all with Team South Africa.
Gino’s special interests include sport, orthopaedics, prevention, recovery and return to normal movement through exercise and rehabilitation.

She completed her community service at Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital in 2024 where she found her love for Neurodevelopmental paediatrics. She has worked towards furthering her knowledge in this field for the better of her patients. She rotated through various wards of the hospital covering paediatric oncology, burns, surgical, medical, trauma and cardiac units providing physiotherapy for patients ranging from newborn to eighteen years old.
Tasneem has a love for sports and went on to work for Hamilton RFC in Greenpoint (South Africa’s oldest rugby club) where she gained experience in a variety of sports-specific injuries and rehabilitation. She takes pride in her ability to assist with sports injury rehab as well as orthopaedic cases.
As a newly-qualified physiotherapist she adds fresh ideas and energy to our team!
Shirley grew up in Cape Town and matriculated at Rhenish Girls’ High School in Stellenbosch. She graduated from Stellenbosch University in 2020.
Shirley completed her community service in the town of Zeerust in the North West Province where she was the first physiotherapist to establish a physiotherapy department in the local area.
She rotated between 6 local clinics conducting a variety of physiotherapy-based services. It was challenging task, but through education and establishing weekly group exercises these physiotherapy services had a noticeable increase in demand in the local community.
Shirley has special interests in orthopaedics, post-surgery recovery and back rehabilitation and enjoys doing dry needling for treatment of back and neck conditions.
She hosts evening back health rehabilitation classes which are very popular.
Moira graduated from WITS in 1988 and worked at Joburg General Hospital from 1989-1990.
She rotated through the various ICU’s (Trauma, Medical, Surgical, Cardiac and Paediatrics). Moira worked at the Forest Town School for Cerebral Palsy (1991-1993) and fom 1994-1997 she worked in a private practice in East London.
In 1996 Moira received a Masters in Physiotherapy for her dissertation in Orthopaedic Surgery in Cerebral Palsy Children.
From 1998 to 2002 she worked in a general out-patient practice in Parow and started weekend work at Milnerton Mediclinic.
In 2003 Moira started a morning position at Nicky Arpesella. In the afternoons she works from home doing Neurodevelopmental Therapy and consulting work for the Blaauwberg Neonatal ICU.
Special areas of interest are Paediatrics – especially Neurodevelopmental, Orthopaedics, Cervical conditions, general rehabilitation and Women’s Incontinence.
